Almost every woman who walks into my studio says some version of the same sentence in the first five minutes. I'm not photogenic. I don't know what to do with my hands. I should have done this before I got this big.
I stopped being surprised by it a long time ago. What still gets me is how quickly it goes away.
Here is what I have noticed after years of this work: the nerves are almost never about the camera. They are about not feeling ready. We decide to wait until we feel confident, and then confidence refuses to show up, because it was never the price of admission. It is what you leave with.
So you don't have to arrive sure of yourself. You have to arrive. I will tell you where to put your hands. I will tell you when your chin is doing something strange, and we will laugh about it. Twenty minutes in, most women forget I am holding a camera at all.
Then I turn the screen around and show you the first frame, and you go quiet for a second.
That second is the reason I do this.
What if you can?
Ready to see yourself this way?
Most mums book between 28 and 34 weeks, and the calendar fills a few months ahead. Tell me your due date and I'll let you know what's still open.
