Limited edition portrait sessions
Limited edition sessions are a small group of seasonal portrait dates that open and close on their own schedule. They are not part of the standing list of sessions at Natalie Vell Studio. Each one is announced as its season arrives, photographed in the private Roseville studio, and then closed again until the following year.
Most clients who reserve one already have a reason attached to the date, whether that is a portrait for Mother's Day, a fall sitting, something made at the end of the year, or a photograph to begin the new one. You do not need modeling experience. Every session at the studio is guided from beginning to end.
If you are reading this between seasons, no dates are open at the moment. That is expected on this page, which remains available year round so that you can join the priority list and hear when the next set of dates is announced.
The four seasons that open
Four limited edition sessions become available over the course of a year. Each one is announced separately, and each one closes when its season ends.
- Mother's Day portraits are photographed close to the holiday for mothers and their children.
- Fall portrait sessions are created in the studio, where the season is built through light and backgrounds rather than left to the weather.
- Holiday portrait sessions are photographed for the end of the year.
- New Year portraits are photographed for the beginning of the new year.
Who each season is open to
Mother's Day portraits belong with the motherhood work at the studio, so they are reserved by mothers and photographed with one child or with all of them. Fall, holiday, and New Year sessions are open to any client, whether that means a portrait of one person, of a couple, or of an entire family. You are welcome to tell Natalie who you would like in the frame, and the session is planned around that.
How these sessions are photographed
Each session is fully guided. Natalie directs posing, posture, hand placement, the angle of your chin, and your facial expression as the session moves along, so you always know what to do next. Because the studio is private, the lighting, the temperature, the backgrounds, and the pace are all controlled, and changing takes place on site rather than in a public space. Retouching afterward is intended to polish the photograph without erasing the person in it.
Why these sessions are limited, and how pricing works
Each season includes only a limited number of dates, and these sessions are photographed alongside the regular work of the studio rather than in place of it. That is the reason the number of dates stays small. There is no standing price for a limited edition session. Pricing is set and announced for each season as it opens, and it is confirmed with you before anything is reserved.
The priority list
The priority list is how you learn that a season has opened without returning to this page on your own. You let Natalie know which of the four seasons interests you, and you are contacted when those dates are announced. Clients come to the studio from Roseville, Sacramento, the Bay Area, and across Northern California, and because each season consists of a small set of dates, the list is the simplest way to hear about them while they remain open. The dates themselves, the price for that season, and the remaining details are confirmed with you when the session is booked.
