How many maternity looks do you really need?
Three looks give one clear direction with variations. Five let the gallery hold two moods properly. Seven let it move from soft to dramatic and back without either feeling rushed.
More is not automatically better. A gallery of seven half-finished ideas is worse than three that were given enough time, and every change costs part of the session.
Three looks
Enough for one direction done properly. A typical three might be an elegant gown, a clean minimal portrait and something personal — your own jeans, or a piece that means something to you.
This is the Light experience, and it produces a gallery that hangs together easily precisely because there is less to reconcile.
Five looks
Room for two moods. Soft and dramatic, or classic and modern, with a family look in between. Five is where a gallery starts to feel like a story rather than a set.
This is Comfort, and it is the number most women choose when they want their partner and children photographed properly without giving up their own portraits.
Seven looks
The full range. Soft, dramatic, sculptural, modern, black and white, color, family — a gallery that can move a long way and still belong to one session.
This is Premium. It is also where hair and makeup matter most, because seven looks is a long time for makeup to hold.
What a change actually costs
Every look means changing, re-styling, sometimes re-lighting, and settling back into being photographed. That time comes out of the same session. The reason more looks come with more time is not generosity — it is arithmetic.
How to choose your number
- Count the moods you actually want, not the outfits you like.
- Add one look if your partner and children are joining, since the family portion needs its own.
- If you cannot name a second mood, three is your number.
- If you can name four, do not try to fit them into five.
Tell me the moods before the day and I plan the lighting and the wardrobe around them, so the changes happen quickly and the time goes into the photographs.
